Hello! i recently made an espboy and had no problems with it until recently, when i wanted to compile programs using Arduino IDE into it. Each time i tried doing so, i got an esptool error and i dont know how to fix it. Whilst tampering with the IDE i tried changing the firmware of the esp8266 which worked only on my linux computer using esptool. When i found out that it was all the same i changed back to micro python which is what i think the esp8266 comes with? Now every time i try to change firmware upload compiled code i get the esptool error on windows and linux with full admin control. Eventually i gave up on trying to program on the ESPboy but found out that i cant put the wifi esp app store back on, and still get the same error of esptool and cannot access port.
I have tried to factory reset the esp8266 using the tool provided by espressif, without sucess. Right now the only program which i successfully uploaded since the incident is 2048 on the online app store.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Hi!
Please try WebAppStore ESPboy WebAppStore
I tried again today but unfortunately still haven’t had success. No apps seem to start the upload process. I have Chrome in full admin mode, the correct USB port selected, and the latest CH340 drivers installed. In the terminal/console of the Web app store, nothing changes. For example:
ESPboy Flasher v1.0
Choose an app on the right…
Now, install WiFiAppStore
When I click ‘Install’, the port selection menu comes up, but nothing seems to happen after I select the port.
I’ve also had uploading issues when using the Arduino IDE, so I’m wondering if something similar is happening here too. In Arduino, I had an issue with esptool on my computer, but uploading from the Web app store on another computer didn’t resolve anything.
I am rather puzzled, could this be because of wrong firmware?
Try another PC to upload from WebAppStore and USB cable.
The problem may not be in ESPboy, but in the computer. Wrong drivers, CH340, USB problem or bad USB cable.
Hello,
I have tried on another computer of which I don’t use for programming. The results are the same for the web appstore.
I have changed the firmware to micro python in the past, maybe this is causing the issue? I don’t know what is the default firmware, is it something else?
Maybe I can try to completely wipe the flash memory?
I honestly have never encountered this problem… The software on ESPboy is always installed from WebAppStore or via Arduino IDE without any problems.
The only reasons for such a problem that I have encountered are wrong CH340 driver or bad USB cable.
