A saw a product (cardputer )from m5stack a commercial iot dev company…
It has many features that feels like kinda espboy.
Is it just coincidence?or they stole the idea (i hate speaking this).
I know espboy is open source hardware and software but i feel like it’s kinda cheating cause it’s commercial and gaining a lot of attention on YouTube and tiktok.

Hi! I think that in the modern world many good ideas come to mind simultaneously to different people. For example, the idea of radio came almost simultaneously to Italian Marconi and Russian Popov, the idea of light bulb came to American Edison and Russian Ladigin, and many thousands of other ideas arise here and there from different people.
In any case, such projects as ESPboy, M5stack, Arduino and similar projects popularize engineering creativity and it is very good.
Yeah. I know, i just really liked ESPBOY.
and gas lighted that cardputer gained so much popularity when espboy community is dying
.
(However, from your example of historical event, it was when communication and internet wasn’t available /was a luxury(invention of calculus is also like these, controversial) but now we know everything from anywhere. And of course m5stack researced before launching new product and obviously knows about espboy (i guess) but didn’t even bothered to mention, not even once)
After all thanks for this awesome project( i really love that it’s evolving despite having a few forum membes and support) and reply❤️
(I’m an unworthy supported of espboy, but maybe you should share/ market it. Even I’m surprised not even a fraction of tech people know about this project, and you won’t find more than 5-10 videos(excluding your and billycdiy(who don’t uploads videos for many years) on it in YouTube.)
I wish you a bright future (i really mean it from the core of my heart)

I actually contacted the founder of m5stack last year and offered to collaborate, but he said he had tons of his own plans and no time to get distracted ) Big business means big worries ))
But I wouldn’t say the community is dying. For example, the traffic of WebAppStore and WiFiAppStore is constantly growing, the number of views of free schemes on easyeda and instructables is also growing. Here and there someone is building a new device or asking questions.
This is an Indie project and I am happy even with the small number of users who stumble upon my craft and find it fascinating.

That’s so sad but it settles that corporate don’t want collaboration.
Yours is a great project and was ahed of time
.
I have no idea about how production works but you can contact some alternative like clockworkpi they are releasing something similar yet advanced or lilygo (they are something like direct competitor). And also consider possibility that you maybe not associate espboy with them (they want profit ) but other of their projects, because i really believe you are much better than many ones.
.
Just know someone loves your project soo much

Well maybe someday someone from the powerful (corporations or just a talented businessman) will want to promote ESPboy to the masses
I won’t mind.

I(we) hope so.
(But consider taking responsibility of growing community /sharing espboy in your own hand)
